Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has hailed the continued success of Nub News.

The town's parliamentarian has praised the online newspaper run by CEO Karl Hancock that is revolutionising local journalism across the country, including Hitchin and north Herts.

The endorsement from Mr Afolami, a rising star in the Conservative party, follows government minister for media and data John Whittingdale applauding Nub News for proving there is a strong demand for excellent, community-focussed local journalism.

Mr Afolami said "Nub News is a welcome addition to the traditional local news scene.

"The local Nub teams tap into topics at the heart of the community, and this is evident in the quality and dynamism of their independent reportage."

Nub News has now expanded into 62 towns across the country, including the launch of the Hitchin site in August last year.

Nub News has earned plaudits for its focus on community news - underlined by its soaring readership figures - as traditional outlets continue to struggle amid successive rounds of cost-cutting and falling revenues.

"I am delighted by the success of Nub News, "Mr Whittingdale said earlier this week, adding: "Which proves there is still a strong demand for professionally produced local news content.

"Nub is now embedded in the local community and is already doing a great job providing a fast and reliable source of local news," the MP for Maldon told our sister site Maldon Nub News.
