Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has slammed councils for their lack of productivity after appearing live on BBC TV today, Monday (July 3).
Mr Afolami featured on BBC morning show Politics Live discussing, among other things, councils working four day weeks.
The show focused on this issue following local government minister Lee Rowley saying he had concerns about value for money for taxpayers.
The MP for Hitchin, which is covered by North Herts Council, agreed with his Tory colleague live on national television about the topic.
"Local residents need a more productive and responsive local council that is looking after their interests, not less," Mr Afolami thundered.
"Why should council workers work 20 per cent fewer hours than the taxpayers who pay their salaries?"
The debate came after minister Rowley ordered a Cambridgeshire council to end its 'experiment' with a four-day working week.
