Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has brought some 'eggs-trememely eggs-cellent' Easter cheer to a north Herts charity through a kind gift.

The town's parliamentarian has sponsored 100 Garden House Hospice Care Easter 'Charlie Chicks' at £1 each as a gift to volunteers helping the vaccine programme in a bid to boost the much-loved charity.

Big-hearted Bim told Hitchin Nub News: "Garden House Hospice serves our community by providing end of life care in a tranquil and uplifting setting.

"The compassion, encouragement and practical support is invaluable to patients and their loved ones.

"The hospice's annual Charlie Chick campaign is a wonderful fundraising activity - hopefully these chicks have brought some springtime cheer."

The chicks are knitted by volunteers throughout the year while the Cadburys Creme eggs have once again been donated by Dianne Lee of DLRC Ltd in Letchworth.

Due to the ongoing Covid crisis, for the second year running, the hospice faces difficulty with sales, as many of its stockists such as shops and offices in Hitchin and beyond are closed.

If you can help in any way, the hospice is looking for individuals and businesses to sponsor quantities of eggs in this way, to be delivered to a vaccination centre/care home/hospital ward/school etc of choice.
