Hitchin MP celebrates National Volunteers Week in Market Square

Alistair Strathern, MP for the Hitchin constituency, last Friday visited Go Vol Herts Volunteer Fair in Hitchin's Market Square to mark National Volunteers Week.
Among many stalls and fantastic local volunteer groups represented, Strathern met with GRIT, who coach young people, Citizens Advice and the Young Carers Crew.
There were so many stalls the Fair extended from the square up to Bancroft.
The event ran from 10am to 3pm on Friday 6th June, one of the many events nationally celebrating National Volunteers Week, which ran from the 2nd June to 8th June.
Strathern, as a constituency MP, has tried to meet with as many volunteer groups as possible to support them as well as he can. This has included raising the profile of Hitchin Choices, a youth group for SEND children, and their fundraising campaigns in Parliament, as well as successfully securing £155,000 in grant funding for CHUMS earlier this year.
Alistair Strathern MP said: "We are lucky to have so many amazing volunteer-led charities and organisations in our communities. Volunteers across our area support countless people across our towns and villages to have better lives.
"In my role as an MP, I try to lift up these fantastic organisations for more spotlight, awareness and expansion.
"I would encourage everyone to volunteer their skills when they can, to give back."
