Hitchin: Nub News readers react to torrential rain putting dampener on Red Arrows flypast
It was supposed to be a stunning display by an iconic British flying team over Hitchin this lunchtime.
But the Red Arrows proved to be a damp squib through no fault of their own.
Many in Hitchin had intended to take a look at the world famous red hawks during their planned flypast over our town - but the dreadful weather put paid to hopes of spotting the legendary fliers.
The torrential rain over North Herts meant that the Red Arrows could not be spotted soaring high over our town on their way to an exhibition over London.
Hitchin business and Nub News readers TUS tweeted us with tongue firmly in cheek: "Just went outside to look up and see if I could spot them. Had to be rescued from drowning by passing lifeguard in a kayak."
While further afield across the county HB Accountants tweeted us to say: 'Still waiting here in Hoddeston.'
The renowned RAF squadron flew over Hitchin en route to a planned flypast for the Defence and Security Equipment exhibition in London at 1215pm.
Unfortunately, the pouring rain and heavy cloud ensured no-one could enjoy their flying skills and savour the spectacle.
What a shame!
See Hitchin Nub News shortly for our detailed weather forecast on when the torrential rain will eventually stop.
