Good news for swimmers in Hitchin as both pools at Hitchin Swimming & Fitness Centre are set to reopen later this month following major improvement works.

Centre managers have confirmed that the site's decarbonisation project is now almost complete, allowing the main pool and teaching pool to return to normal operation.

In a message to members and customers, the centre said: "We are pleased to inform you that the swimming pool work is almost complete. The main and teaching pools will reopen fully to a normal timetable on Monday 23 February."

The works form part of wider efforts to improve energy efficiency at the site, helping reduce the centre's carbon footprint while modernising facilities for users.

The reopening will be welcome news for local families, swimming clubs and regular users who have experienced disruption while the work has taken place.

From 23 February, customers can once again access the pools according to the usual programme of lane swimming, lessons and public sessions.

Members are advised to check the centre's timetable online or via the booking app ahead of their visit as sessions return to normal operation.
