A popular Hitchin pub has warmly hailed its loyal customers and staff as life return to the rhythms that were once taken for granted before lockdown.

The Victoria Pub reopened last week as restrictions eased - and has been met with an outpouring of love from punters who missed the convivial surroundings of one of our town's best pubs.

And the feeling has been mutual this week as The Vic returned the compliment - hailing its hard-working and ultra-professional bar staff as 'absolute ninja's!'

Posting on their official Instagram page 'Vic and Tom and all the Crew' wrote: "Thanks for the big welcome back #Hitchin!

"It was so good to see so many friendly, happy, relieved to see us faces - and what a pleasure to finally open up our brand new pizza hatch for you!

"A big fat thanks to our crew who are quite simply the finest in all the land, absolute ninjas, all of them!"

The Vic also explained that they are limited in terms of live music until Step 3 of lockdown easing in late June, but they did add: "But watch this space for live acoustic acts and DJ nights until then."

They also explained: "We don't put all the tables on the app so we always have plenty of tables available on the door and we turned very few people away last week, sorry if that was you though.

The Vic also went on to praise "@tombastiani & @chefrunjmc who did us proud as did the BLC chefs because there was no let up there either @sweetsthecook & @flind8rs," adding, "Big thanks to our surprise guests last week, @andy_theakstone & @tombragginsmusic."
