Hitchin was left relatively unscathed by Storm Darragh that wrought havoc around the west of the country - leaving tens of thousands of homes without power on Monday.

Road closures were in place on Willian Road due to flooding, the popular social media site "We Love Hitchin" showed a silver birth that had fallen down in Hitchin Cemetery and Greggs off the town square was closed due to water damage with staff at the bakery telling Hitchin Nub News that they hoped to reopen on Tuesday.
