People in Hitchin are being encouraged to get out and experience the sights and sounds of Cambridge by taking on a unique walking attraction tour by bus.

The city boasts some of the world's most famous and awe-inspiring attractions – many of which are free to visit – and Stagecoach East can get you there with the 9A/B then 905 Services running straight from Hitchin to the heart of Cambridge and then stops close to all the statutes of the Standing Tall trail.

Cambridge is currently playing host to this trail of gentle giants of the African plains, with 31 beautifully decorated giraffe sculptures galloping onto the city's streets. They are intended to encourage visitors to look up at the spectacular art on offer while supporting Break, a charity working in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire to raise aspirations of the county's young care leavers.

The bus is a great value way to get around the attractions, with a day ticket costing just £5.50 for adults and £3.90 for youth passengers in the Town Zone. Meanwhile, Small Groups of 3 people can travel all day for £2.83 each and Large Group of 5 people can travel for £2.40 each.

Each giraffe sculpture has a unique design - the large ones were decorated by a total of 27 professional and amateur artists who submitted their designs almost a year prior to the trail starting. Many will be sold at a charity auction at the Graduate Cambridge on 19 June 2024, after the trail has ended - the money raised will support Break.

Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, said: "Our region is so fortunate to be home to so many wonderful attractions – many of which are free to see and do. Getting to Cambridge and around the city by bus to follow the Standing Tall trail makes for an exciting, convenient and affordable day. For many families, catching the bus is a wonderful part of a great day out! So, maybe this the chance to think about leaving the car at home and getting onto the safari trail for your next adventure!"
