HITCHIN: Hands up who got caught in random snowfalls across our town on Thursday?

As Hitchin Nub News reported earlier this week snow hit our area as temperature plummeted.

The Met Office got it spot on when they predicted it would snow in Hitchin yesterday (Thursday, March 31) - only days after sun seekers basked in balmy temperatures on Windmill Hill last weekend.

Speaking of Windmill Hill, a dip into North Herts Museum's wonderfully rich photographic archive came up with an evocative black and white shot of snow covering Hermitage Road.

The image was taken in the dreadful winter of 1962 and as you can see, the snow was far worse than anything we've experienced over recent years in Hitchin.

Thankfully forecasters are hinting at more sunny weather to come after an unsettled spell - and have ruled out further snowfalls as we move into April.
