As we edge nearer lockdown, drivers on Hitchin's roads this afternoon and early evening could be caught in traffic thanks to various roadworks in the town.

There are currently delays relating to work revamping the traffic lights towards the Windmill Hill end of Hermitage Road with traffic backed up along Queen Street.

Bedford Road is also experiencing delays at the roundabout of Nightingale Road next to Butts Close and Top Field as workmen replace signage.

A traffic light system is in place while the work is being done this afternoon.

Later this month Hermitage Road will also see resurfacing works taking place between November 16 to November 18.
