Hitchin's busy Hermitage Road will be shut every night during half term week for roadworks.

The town centre thoroughfare will be closed to traffic from Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30, between 9pm and 6am. Queen Street will also shut at the same time as Hermitage Road.

According to Herts County Council, 'pedestrian crossing improvements' will take place, although, as anyone who has driven along Hermitage Road will have noted recently, there are currently delays, relating to work revamping the traffic lights towards the Windmill Hill end.

Next month, Hermitage Road will also see resurfacing works taking place between November 16 to November 18.
