Update: Get ready for the big Hitchin Christmas light switch on 2023

Hitchin's Christmas Lights switch on kicks off at 12pm on Saturday, November 18 with a host of acts on stage, Santa's Parade and live music.

Hitchin set to sparkle this Christmas

Hitchin BID has been awarded a total of £2,000 from the council's Hitchin Area Forum

The grant will go towards the cost of replacing the Christmas lights to improve the festive display in 2023 and beyond. 

Tom Hardy, Hitchin BID manager said: "We are pleased [the] council have recognised the importance of our Christmas lights in the town centre.

"They play an important part in the vibrancy of the area during the festive season and this grant will go a long way to ensure the lights are enjoyed for years to come."

Hitchin BID provide a stunning festive display each year with many agreeing that it is important to continue to support their work in ensuring Hitchin is lit up year upon year..

Cllr Ian Albert, Area Forum Chair, added: "Christmas is a special time for our towns.

"This grant will provide a much-improved light display for Hitchin during the 2023 Christmas period and beyond [and] support the retail and hospitality sector during what is one of their most important trading periods."
