St Mary's Church in the heart of Hitchin has announced the return of worship.

Along with much else that we once took for granted, church services have been curtailed during the last year.

We will never truly know the cost of separation and loneliness on individuals and society but there has also been stirring signs of hope, not least through the fast and efficient development and distribution of vaccines.

And now there is good news on the horizon with the return to St Mary's for Sunday worship from Palm Sunday onwards (March 28).

Services for Holy Week and Easter can be found below.

Sunday morning services on Palm Sunday and on Easter Sunday will be by advance booking.

Palm Sunday (March 28)

10am Parish Eucharist with Passion Reading. Service starts in church (no procession this year).

Maundy Thursday (April 1)

  1. 30pm Eucharist and Commemoration of the Last Supper

Good Friday (April 2)

10am Children's Way of the Cross

2pm Jesus' Last Words, Music and Reflections for Good Friday

Easter Sunday (April 4)

10am Easter Festival Eucharist

4pm Easter 'Families at Four' Zoom service)

630pm Choral Evensong (if permitted, tbc)

The church hope to open the church again for private prayer and for midweek services, after Easter.

Please note services will also be livesteamed.
