Hitchin Town have issued an invitation to Top Field to Premier League football fans disgusted with the greed of the proposed European Super League.
The club reacted to the news that is shaking the beautiful game to the core by slamming the unpopular idea.
Like many clubs in non-league the Canaries are steeped in history.
They can trace their antecedents to the 19th century - in Hitchin's case 1865, as well as taking part in the first FA Cup competition in 1871-72.
The club as we know it reformed in 1928 and has been thriving despite lockdown.
This is due in part to its wonderful team of volunteers as well as the wider Hitchin community that backing the Top Field outfit with hard cash during their successful crowdfunder laster year - which raised more than £60k for the club.
However, with the news that lower league and non-league football could be further cast adrift from the greedy giants at the top of the game, Hitchin posted an open invitation to football lovers in our area to support their local team.
The Canaries wrote: "Qualifying for a tournament based upon your self-perceived "status" instead "results" goes completely against the basic principles of football.
"Anyone who wishes to walk away from the moneymen and start watching proper football, with no VAR, is very welcome at Top Field.
"For those who haven't visited Top Field, here is what we offer:
£12 a ticket
TerracingBeer mug
Watch the game with a pintSupport your local community.
