Hitchin's British Schools Museum will be holding a yard sale this weekend.

The museum on Queen Street which celebrates the history of elementary education is hosting a schoolyard sale on Saturday.

The event will be in their open air playground with some amazing objects, young and old.

Among the bric-a-brac will also be curios, furniture and books, with plenty of new items for sale - to say nothing of the mouth-watering, scrumptious, homemade cakes their bakers are preparing.

Entry is free. The sale runs from 10am to 2pm this Saturday. For more information visit their website and Twitter feed.

While you're there, why not visit the school's 'Dreamers, Radicals and Satirists' exhibition on writers from Hertfordshire, which runs until the end of the year.

The list of Herts writers include EM Forster, George Orwell, Charles Dickens and Edward Bulwer-Lytton.

The exhibition explores their politics, beliefs and loves.
