HITCHIN: The first full moon of 2022, known as the wolf moon arrived last night [Monday, January 17

And Nub News would love to see your pictures of the moon above Hitchin.

Days are now starting to lengthen once again and by the next full moon in mid-February, daylight hours will have increased by almost an hour a day, which will coincide with the next full moon, set for February 16, known as the new moon.

There will be 12 full moons this year, two of which will be supermoons - full moons that are brighter and closer to earth than normal.

Along with dazzling in the night sky, a full moon is also known to impact human's mood, sleep and appetite when it appears.

Full moons of 2022

  • February 16: Snow moon
  • March 18: Worm moon
  • April 16: Pink moon
  • May 16: Flower moon
  • June 14: Strawberry moon
  • July 13: Buck moon
  • August 11: Sturgeon moon
  • September 10: Harvest moon
  • October 9: Hunter's moon
  • November 8: Beaver moon
  • December 7: Cold moon

On the night of a full moon, we get an average of 30 minutes less deep, dreamless sleep, while our best sleep tends to happen on the night of a half moon.
