Italian restaurant chain Zizzi has unveiled a brand-new lunchtime menu item combining pizza and panini in what it is calling the "Pizzanini".

The new range launched nationwide on Monday 19 May and is available through Deliveroo and click-and-collect at Zizzi restaurants, priced at £9.95.

The Pizzanini is made using freshly baked pizza dough folded panini-style, brushed with garlic butter and filled with a range of Italian-inspired ingredients before being topped with Riserva cheese.

Three flavours are initially available:

• Tomato, Pesto and Burrata – featuring Genovese pesto, burrata, rocket, mixed leaves and tomato
• Prosciutto and Burrata – combining prosciutto, burrata, tomatoes, rocket and balsamic drizzle
• Crispy Chicken Caesar – made with crispy chicken, pancetta, Caesar dressing and rocket

Zizzi said the new product was designed to appeal to customers looking for a lighter summer lunch or something easy to eat on the move.

From 1 June, the Pizzanini range will also become available through Uber Eats and Just Eat.
