Hitchin's new bins start to arrive as Council prepares for competition to name the new fleet

New 240 litre blue-lidded bin for cardboard and paper, replacing the lidless blue box, have started arriving at people's homes across Hitchin.
These bins are being delivered with instructions not to use them until the new service starts after 4 August.
The Council are delivering them early as they have over 200,000 to get out ready for when the new service begins.
In addition residents will soon be asked to enter a competition to help name the new fleet.
The Council will be promoting this via schools and social media in the hope of getting a fun range of names that can be "judged" by a panel.
"Boaty McBoatface" was a famous example of the quality of names you get from consulting the wider public, could Hitchin see a fleet of "Bins McBinface" vehicles driving around town?
