Installation of new, user-friendly parking payment machines has started in Hitchin. These state-of-the-art machines will be rolled out in all 22 council car parks, supposedly offering drivers a smoother and more convenient experience.

Key features include:

- Contactless payment, including Apple and Google Pay

- The ability to 'Check In' and 'Check Out' for up to the maximum stay

- No need to display tickets – no more dashing back to your car

Car parks in Hitchin affected:

- Bancroft Long Stay

- Woodside Long Stay

- Lairage multi-storey

- Biggin Lane*

- Christchurch*

- St. Mary's Square

- Portmill Lane West

- Portmill Lane East

The PayByPhone option remains available via their existing app, and all car parks that currently accept cash will continue to do so.
