Police have released an image of a person they would like to identify after a robbery was reported in Hitchin.

A woman in her 40s reported that an Israeli flag she was holding out of her car window was forcibly grabbed by a man in Queen Street on Saturday 8 March at around 11.20am.

"This incident left the victim feeling shaken and targeted because of their Jewish religion," explained PC Lewis Thomson, hate crime officer for North Herts and Stevenage. "Her arm required medical attention afterwards".

"We have made a number of enquiries since this incident was reported to us, but I'd like to hear from anyone who recognises the person in the image as it is believed that they were in the area at the time and could be able to assist with enquiries".

"If people think back, it was International Women's Day, and the incident happened while a pro-Palestine gathering was taking place in the town. If anyone has any information, please contact me by email [email protected] quoting crime reference 41/22042/25."
