Latest travel news: Police called after A1(M) blocked at Junction 1 due to protest - Hitchin motorists could face delays
HITCHIN: Motorists should be aware the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) is currently closed.
If you're driving south from Hitchin please be aware the road will be shut.
Herts Police told Nub News: "We are currently dealing with an incident near junction 1 (South Mimms) of the A1M southbound involving a small number of protestors.
"Officers are at the scene. The road has been closed and as a result there is some traffic congestion.
"Motorists are asked to please avoid the area where possible."
The protest becomes another of a number around the M25 this week by climate activists.
