Alistair Strathern, MP for the Hitchin constituency, is backing Hitchin Scouts' fundraising campaign to run an expedition to Yellowstone National Park next year.

On Saturday, 30th November, Strathern visited St Mary's Church Christmas Fair in Pirton to support the event and the different stalls. While there, he spoke with local scouts to discuss their fundraising efforts to enable them to undertake an expedition to Yellowstone National Park next summer.

As a former scout, Strathern is a longstanding supporter of the fantastic opportunities scouting can provide for young people, and is he is urging the local community to back their fundraising campaign.

Yellowstone National Park is the world's first ever national park, encompassing over 3000 square miles, mostly residing in Wyoming, USA. It features hundreds of animal species including bears, wolves and antelope, as well as geysers, hot springs and canyons.

Alistair Strathern MP said: "It was fantastic to meet Hitchin scouts' brilliant young representatives, and to hear all about their different fundraising efforts".

"As a former scout, I know how valuable these experiences and opportunities the Scouts provide for young people are, particularly in communities like ours".

"This once-in-a-lifetime trip would be an amazing opportunity and memory that these young people richly deserve".

"I encourage everyone to support their campaign if you can."
