Lottery event hits the Jackpot: celebrating 3 years of funding the community

Local charities and community groups came together in March to celebrate 3 years of the North Herts Community Lottery at Hitchin Town Hall.
The event brought together representatives from a wide range of good causes, including local charities and community groups, to enjoy tea, cake and conversation, while celebrating the lottery's positive impact since its first draw on 19 March 2022.
Since its launch, the lottery has raised an average of £27,000 each year - thanks to around 450 regular players. That's over £80,000 in total going directly to local groups. More than 60 good causes are currently registered for the lottery, and the number continues to grow.
One of the groups in attendance, 'Open Artbox CIC', was thrilled to win a £50 cash prize on the day. Angela Archer, Director at Open Artbox said: "We're really lucky to have won £50 at this 3rd birthday event and are really looking forward to be able to use that money to support our participants and continue the work that we do"
The Community Lottery provides vital funding to a wide range of projects, including those focussed on health, well-being, the arts and youth services. This celebration event provided the perfect setting for local groups to connect, share their stories and highlight the difference the funding has made.
Steve Crowley, Director - Enterprise at North Herts Council, also commented: "The success of the North Herts Community Lottery is a testament to the strength and generosity of our community. Thanks to the support of the players, we have been able to helps so many local organisations continue their inspiring work. As we have marked this significant milestone, we look forward to many more years of making a difference together!"
With around 800 tickets sold each week and over 300 local winners so far, the lottery continues to grow – every ticket sold helps to support a good cause close to home.
