A man has been charged in connection with two robberies in North Herts, including an incident in Hitchin.
The Hitchin incident took place on Wednesday, August 19, after a man had reportedly arranged to meet another man to buy a watch.
Police say that when the prospective buyer arrived in his vehicle, the other man made threats and demanded that he hand over money.
The victim refused and was assaulted before leaving the area. A parcel was also reportedly taken from his vehicle.
The incident came a day after a separate robbery in Baldock.
On Tuesday, August 18, a man was reportedly approached by another man who asked him for a lift.
During the journey from Baldock towards Stevenage, the passenger asked the driver to stop the car before allegedly punching him in the face.
Items including a mobile phone, watch and bag were then taken.
Following police enquiries, Dean Raeside, 37, of no fixed abode, was charged with one count of robbery in connection with the Baldock incident and a second count of robbery relating to the Hitchin incident.
Raeside appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Friday, September 4, where he was remanded in custody.
He is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday, October 6.
