A man has been jailed this week following a theft in Letchworth.

Darren Bain, aged 48, of no fixed abode, appeared at St Albans Magistrates' Court on Monday (15 September) where he was sentenced to 15 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £494.97 in compensation to David's Bookshop, Eastcheap.

This followed a theft on Friday 8 August where a quantity of Warhammer sets and board games worth around £500 were stolen.

PC Josh Rutland, of the North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Offences against businesses in North Herts will not be tolerated and we continue to work hard to tackle such crime to keep our town centres safe.

"If you commit offences in our towns, you will be pursued, and we will ensure all active lines of enquiries are undertaken.

"We thank retailers and members of the public for their continued support as we target those responsible for such offences."
