Milford Lodge Teams Shine at the Dementia in Care Awards

Milford Lodge Care Home in Hitchin is celebrating the remarkable achievements of its Engagement Team and Sycamore Team, who attended the prestigious Dementia in Care Awards at the Hilton Bankside in London on 24 June 2026.
Both teams were proudly named finalists in their respective categories, standing shoulder‑to‑shoulder with some of the most dedicated dementia care professionals in the country. Although neither team took home the top award, their recognition on a national stage reflects the exceptional passion, creativity, and commitment they bring to Milford Lodge every day.
In attendance & representing Milford Lodge were Sycamore Team Leader Cherrii Mendoza , Carers Rose Wilman. & Lisa Clements, Dementia Ambassador & carer Megan Daley & ex Sycamore now Activity Coordinator Devina Kutowaroo.
🌿 Sycamore Dementia Care Team
As finalists for The Dementia Care Home Worker Award, the Sycamore Team were celebrated for their deeply person‑centred approach and their ability to create a calm, reassuring, and meaningful environment for residents living with dementia. Their work embodies dignity, empathy, and genuine connection.
🎨 Engagement & Wellbeing Team
Finalists in the Activity Coordinator Award, Eliana Ferraris and Devina Kutowaroo were recognised for their vibrant, imaginative, and inclusive wellbeing programme. From creative arts to community partnerships, their activities ensure residents remain active, joyful participants in daily life.
💛 A Celebration of Dedication
Milford Lodge—home to 60 residents, including an 18‑bed specialist dementia environment—has long been known as a warm, fun‑loving, and supportive place where residents feel safe, valued, and connected. The double finalist achievement highlights the strength of the home's culture and the dedication of the people who make it special.
Residents, families, and colleagues have expressed immense pride in both teams. Being finalists at such a respected national event is a testament to the heart, skill, and teamwork that define Milford Lodge. Host & Compère Steve Walls told the room "all finalists should be incredibly proud of being here, it means you are in the top 5 in your field in the whole of the UK"
