New Bird in Hand boss praises Lower Stondon and Henlow customers for supporting revamped pub

The new boss of Lower Stondon's Bird in Hand has hailed the local community for their support since he and his wife took charge.

Harpreet Singh, who many in our area will know from being owner of The Angels' Share in Hitchin, has been busy revamping the pub near Henlow camp.

Live music has already proved a hit with punters with plans for more quality local musicians to play at the venue.

Speaking to Hitchin Nub News, popular Harpreet said: "We are very grateful for the reception that we have had since we came here, and for the positive response to our live music."

Humble Harpreet added: "I have to say what a great place Lower Stondon is with the loveliest people. I have been truly humbled by the warm welcome we have received."

The pub is fast earning a reputation for a convivial atmosphere, with a selection of talented live acts already entertaining customers.

There is more to come from Harpreet and wife Manpreet Kaur, known to many as 'Preeti', with plans to complete a full refurb set to finish later this month.

Revellers who visited The Angels' Share bar in Hitchin will have sampled a welcoming late night atmosphere, with the successful template already paying dividends at the Bird in Hand.

Harpreet added: "Mike King and Ben Smith dazzled the locals with their talent on the opening weekend along with the class acts of Yolanda Gabrielle and Sam Neighbour on Saturday and Sunday."

Harpreet confirmed further details, saying: "We will be opening the refurbed public bar and offering fresh and authentic India food in the restaurant area in late March.

"We are also planning to offer whisky on Wednesdays - as well as alternative tastings such as gin, rum or wine - where customers can sample five great whiskies and enjoy an authentic Indian meal at a great value price."
