People living with Parkinson's in Hitchin are being encouraged to get active this autumn with the launch of a new accessible exercise programme.
Parkinson's UK has teamed up with podcast producer Soundyard to launch On the Move, a new eight-part podcast series featuring seated and standing exercise routines.
The sessions are aimed at people living with Parkinson's, as well as anyone with a connection to the condition, and can be followed from the comfort of home.
Experienced fitness instructor Sonya Powley leads all eight episodes, with exercises specially designed to encourage gentle movement and help people of different ages and abilities build confidence in getting active.
The programme features low to moderate intensity exercises, with routines focusing on the physical and wellbeing benefits of movement.
Sessions have also been designed with different abilities in mind, helping participants work on their balance, coordination and awareness of their bodies.
On the Move forms part of Parkinson's UK's physical activity media library, which provides a range of resources designed to help people with the condition become more active.
The charity says the podcast could be particularly useful for people with lower levels of mobility or activity who want to take their first steps towards exercising more regularly.
Anna Castiaux, Physical Activity Programme Lead at Parkinson's UK, said: "On the Move is a fantastic new resource for people with Parkinson's to get active and live well in 2026.
"The routines are all designed to be followed either from the comfort of your own home, or when you're on the move.
"My hope is that more people with Parkinson's, or with a connection to the condition, will have the opportunities to be more active."
Regular physical activity can have a number of benefits for people living with Parkinson's, including improving balance and coordination, strength, flexibility and mobility, as well as supporting general wellbeing.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition with more than 40 possible symptoms, ranging from tremor and pain to anxiety.
There is currently no cure, and someone in the UK is diagnosed with Parkinson's every 20 minutes.
The number of people living with the condition worldwide is expected to double to 25 million by 2050.
The eight On the Move episodes are available through Spotify and other major podcast platforms.
