New Group Cycling Studio Opens at North Herts Leisure Centre
By James Denselow 18th Jun 2026
A brand-new dedicated group cycling studio has opened at North Herts Leisure Centre, with dozens of members already taking advantage of the new facility during its first weekend.
The purpose-built studio officially opened on Saturday, 6 June, following the conversion of one of the centre's two squash courts into a dedicated cycling space.
Operated by Everyone Active on behalf of North Herts Council, the new studio features 22 Keiser bikes, immersive lighting and enhanced sound technology designed to create an engaging workout experience. Both instructor-led and virtual cycling classes will be available.
The facility proved an immediate hit with gym-goers, welcoming 51 members during its opening weekend.
The new studio has been created in response to growing demand for group cycling sessions at the centre, where classes have frequently been fully booked.
By moving cycling into its own dedicated space, the leisure centre will also be able to expand its wider group exercise programme by freeing up room in its existing studios during busy periods.
Tim Melvin, Contract Manager for Everyone Active, said: "We're thrilled to see the new group cycling studio open its doors. It's a fantastic addition to the centre and one that our members have been really looking forward to.
"The studio provides a modern, purpose-built space for this hugely popular form of exercise, and we're excited to be able to offer even more classes and greater variety going forward.
"By giving group cycling its own dedicated home, we've also created more flexibility in our existing studios, which means we can grow our wider group exercise programme even further. It's a brilliant outcome for the whole community."
Councillor Amy Allen, North Herts Council's Executive Member for Leisure, welcomed the opening.
She said: "It's fantastic to see this addition to the North Herts Leisure Centre. It gives people more opportunities to be active and enjoy exercise in a way that works for them.
"Our leisure centres play an important role in supporting residents' health and wellbeing, and I'm pleased to see this new studio now open and ready to welcome members."
Members can book classes and view the updated timetable through the Everyone Active app or by contacting the leisure centre directly.
