Hertfordshire residents will find it easier than ever to build confidence with digital technology thanks to a new online support tool launched last month. The Digital Help Finder — a free, easy-to-use platform — connects people with local digital skills courses, one-to-one help, and practical support for using phones, laptops and the internet.

The tool, part of the Essex and Hertfordshire Shared Service, is designed to help anyone who wants to improve their digital skills — whether that's learning to send emails, shop online safely, access online services, or simply feel more confident using everyday technology.

Helping Everyone Get Online

Councillor Paul de Kort, Chair of the Hertfordshire Digital Connectivity Board, said the Digital Help Finder brings much-needed clarity and accessibility to digital support across the county.

"The Digital Help Finder is a fantastic step forward in making digital support easier to access for residents across Hertfordshire," he said. "By bringing services together in one simple platform, we're helping people find the right help confidently. This is about ensuring residents have the skills and access needed in this ever-changing digital world."

The launch ties into broader efforts by Digital Hertfordshire to tackle digital exclusion across the county. Organisations working together through the programme are promoting the tool at local events and venues, helping people discover the support available.

Support Across Hertfordshire

Residents without devices or internet at home can still get help locally — libraries across Hertfordshire offer free access to computers, tablets and Wi-Fi, and are already running digital skills sessions that can be paired with the Digital Help Finder's recommendations.

Digital Help Finder users answer a few simple questions about their confidence and skills online, and the tool suggests nearby courses, community support, and one-to-one advice tailored to their needs.

Whether you're new to the digital world, want to improve online safety, or are looking to grow your skills for work or everyday life, this new tool is designed to make getting help easier and quicker right here in Hertfordshire.
