New Year Honours have been announced, which includes an OBE for a woman from Hitchin.

The prestigious list marks the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom, including our area.

Sarah Wren, who is chief executive officer at the Hertfordshire Independent Living Service has been awarded the honour of 'Officers of the Order of the British Empire', otherwise known as an OBE.

Highly-acclaimed Sarah has been handed the notable honour for 'services to Older and Disabled People in Hertfordshire'.

Sarah helps manage the HILS organisation, while meeting with partners in the community, working on new projects and supporting their staff.

She has also helped Meals On Wheels provision across Hertfordshire, and champions the difference that preventative and caring services make to older residents in our area.

Well done Sarah from Hitchin Nub News!
