Newport vs Stevenage: League Two preview

Stevenage travel to Rodney Parade to face promotion hunting Newport on Saturday.

Alex Revell will be looking for his side to respond after two draws in the last seven days against Walsall and Port Vale.

The visit to south Wales should be a stern test for Boro as Newport will be looking to break into the automatic promotion places if teams above them slip up.

Form

Boro are unbeaten in three league games but Revell will be eager to turn the stalemates into much eluded wins after some promising performances.

Their last five games have produced two wins, two draws and one solitary loss. This form sees them sit in 20th position.

Newport were the early pace setters in the league before hitting a rough patch of form lately.

Their last five games have produced two wins, one draw and two losses. This form has them placed in 6th place, only five points from league leaders Cambridge.

Head to head

Boro boast an impressive record against the Exiles. Twelve league meetings have produced six Boro victories, three draws and three wins for the Welsh outfit.

Danger men

Top scorer Tristan Abrahams had hit eight goals was loaned to Leyton Orient but Scott Twine and Padraig Amond follow closely behind both with seven goals on all competitions.

Team news

Ross Marshall and Charlie Carter are looking at a lengthy stay on the sidelines while Jack Smith is still struggling with a hamstring injury.

No new injuries have emerged as Revell said he has full team selection ahead of the journey.

Alex Revell preview

"We're looking forward to going to Newport and getting a result. We've planned for that and the players are ready and full of energy.

"It's a really good atmosphere and we're really looking forward to the game."

"You've got to go there with a clear frame and mind and want to win. Like any other game.

"When you step over that white line it's about decisions, mistakes, opportunities, taking your chances.

"All of those will still be there but it's about how we deal with them on Saturday."
