NEWVU: An exciting gaming hub is coming to our area this week.

The UK's first-ever eSports venue is set to open in Stevenage.

With games for all abilities across three floors, NEWVU is set to be an exciting addition for passionate gamers across North Herts including Hitchin.

NEWVU founder Andy Bishop said: "On the top floor there's an E-Sports team boot camp room, where teams will come, train and learn about E-Sports.

"It is a gaming place but at the same time there's a big steer towards education and safety that we're trying to bring to the town."

Labelled 'the home of social gaming', Newvu will welcome gamers of all abilities to its facility at the former Burger King unit in the town centre.

The store on Queensway will be hosting a launch event on Wednesday, with booking available from Thursday.

The Mayor of Stevenage will be officially opening the unit today, Monday, (August 22) at noon, with the site officially opening on Thursday (August 26)

The day before the opening on Wednesday (August 24), there is an E-Sports gaming event, where influencers and YouTube channels will attend.
