North Herts Council is conducting an interim review of polling district and polling places, following the completion of the Community Governance Review earlier this year.

The council is seeking comments from residents, community groups, and organisations with expertise in accessibility to help determine whether any changes should be made to where people can cast their vote.

 While the review focuses on changes arising from the 2025 Community Governance Review, comments on any aspect of the polling arrangements are welcome - including polling stations locations and polling district boundaries. 

The consultation is open until 30 November 2025, and the report will be presented to Council in January 2026. Any approved changes will be implemented at the parish elections scheduled for May 2026.

This review aims to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to vote in a way that is convenient, inclusive, and accessible. The input of the public will be vital in helping shape polling arrangements that best reflect the needs of communities in North Hertfordshire.

Melanie Stimpson, (Acting) Returning Officer for North East Hertfordshire and Hitchin constituencies, said "Polling District reviews are important to help us support you, the elector, with the most accessible way of voting. 

"These reviews rely heavily on local knowledge. By letting us know your views on the location and suitability of polling stations, we can ensure that polling stations remain as accessible as possible to those that use them."
