Appeal following attempted robbery in Letchworth

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery in Letchworth.

At around 6.30pm on Tuesday, October 18, a woman was walking her dogs through Norton Common when a young male on a bike approached her and demanded her wallet before verbally threatening her.

The woman began to scream and the male made off empty handed towards Cowslip Hill.

Detective Constable Beth Talbot, who is investigating, said: "This was a scary incident for the individual involved and we are doing all we can to trace the suspect.

"The male is described as white, between 5ft 7 and 6ft tall, in his late teens or early twenties and of slim build with short hair. He was wearing a black hoodie and dark trousers. The bike he was riding was dark in colour.

"I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time, or anyone with information, to get in touch with me at [email protected]. Any information you have, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital to our investigation."
