North Herts Fantasy Football League Launches to Support Men’s Mental Health
By Katie Wilson 8th Aug 2026
A new fantasy football league has launched in North Hertfordshire with a simple purpose: to help men stay connected, supported, and engaged through the football season. The North Herts Men's Mental Health League uses the familiar routine of weekly Premier League scoring to create a space where men can check in with each other in a relaxed, side‑by‑side way.
The idea is built on a growing understanding that men often find it easier to talk, share, or simply stay connected when the focus is on an activity rather than a formal conversation. Fantasy football provides that structure: regular interaction, friendly competition, and a reason to stay in touch. For many men, these small moments of connection can make a meaningful difference to wellbeing.
Katie Wilson said: "It's just a bit of fun – but with a deeper purpose. It might not seem much, but it's my way of providing an outreach and giving men a simple, pressure‑free space to stay connected."
The league is designed to run quietly and simply. There are no group chats, no social media pages, and no messaging platforms involved. Men can join, pick their team, and enjoy the season without any pressure to interact. The aim is to offer a gentle anchor each week through football, especially for those who prefer low‑contact ways of staying connected.

By combining football with wellbeing in a calm, accessible format, the league hopes to give men across North Herts a small but meaningful point of connection throughout the season.
