Hitchin is a town renowned the its community-based events.

So why not take a look at what's going on in the town in our recently revamped What's On section.

To keep you up to date with everything that is going on, we've decided to post a regular 'Event of the Week' article with details of an activity occurring in the local area.

You can list your local events, whether they be shows, films, sports fixtures, quiz nights, virtual markets, pub offers, choir rehearsals, or anything else, on our What's On page free of charge.

However, incredibly, for our latest Nub News What's On event of the week you have the chance to have an audience with an astronaut!

Walsworth Road Baptist Church are hosting 'An evening with Charlie Duke, Apollo 16 Astronaut' from 7pm on Saturday (June 26).

Charlie Duke was part of the successful Apollo 16 mission in April 1972 and became the tenth man to walk on the Moon.

Walsworth Road Baptist Church have been able to secure "an audience with Charlie" by live video link from his home in Texas.

A spokesperson for WRBP told Hitchin Nub News: "There are members of the church with many wide and varied connections and experiences and it was through one of these that the connection with Charlie came about.

"He will talk at length about his space experience but also about his Faith and how to combine the two.

"By having this opportunity it was too good a chance to miss sharing this with a wider audience and by organising through Eventbrite and online there is no need to worry about physical capacity especially in these times."

You can register via Eventbrite to join them on the night here
