Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has been speaking to Nub News to share his view on the government's 'roadmap' out of lockdown

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has promised that the 'end really is in sight' as he revealed the route out of lockdown earlier this week.

It's been a long 12 months for many up and down the country including Hitchin and north Herts, but the PM announced a four step plan to exit lockdown when speaking in the House of Commons on Monday afternoon as Mr Johnson detailed the road back to normality for us all.

After a phenomenal effort from the government and vaccine teams up and down the country, we are can now begin planning for the weeks and months ahead.

The new roadmap announced by the Prime Minister explains how gradual, considered relaxing of the restrictions will enable families to reunite, schools to reopen, activities to restart and travel to resume over the coming months - with all restrictions hopefully gone by 21 June.

We are extremely fortunate to be among the first countries in the world to vaccinate our population and can look forward with cautious confidence.
