A unique early-morning dance event that has been getting Pirton residents out of bed before sunrise and onto the dancefloor is set to return later this month.

Pirton Sunrise Sessions, a family-friendly "coffee rave" held at Pirton Sports & Social Club, will welcome villagers and visitors back on Thursday 25 June from 6.30am to 8am for another dose of music, coffee and community spirit before the working day begins.

The initiative was created by local residents Autumn Pritchard-Barrett, Nathan Gainford and Alan Scott, who wanted to offer a fun and inclusive way for people to boost their wellbeing and social connections without disrupting busy work and school schedules.

Combining upbeat DJ sets, dancing, fresh coffee and pastries, the monthly event aims to bring festival-style energy to the village before most people have even started their commute.

Autumn said: "We know so many people are looking for more joy, energy and social connection in everyday life. This is about creating a space where people can dance, socialise and grab a coffee and start the day feeling positive."

The first Sunrise Session, held in May, attracted around 50 local residents, parents and children, transforming the village venue into an early-morning dancefloor.

Organisers say the event created an atmosphere more commonly found at a wellness festival than a village hall before 8am.

The launch event also raised £100 for local causes, with proceeds split equally between Pirton Joycare and Pirton Pre- and Primary Schools. Future events will continue to support the organisations.

DJ and Pirton resident Nathan Gainford said: "The atmosphere at the first Pirton Sunrise Session was incredible. Seeing parents, children, commuters and friends all dancing together at sunrise was something really special.

"It proved that a little music and positivity can completely transform the start of the day."

Alan Scott, manager of Pirton Sports & Social Club, added: "The response was incredible. It's amazing what a packed dancefloor can do for your feelings about a 5am alarm."

Pirton is perhaps best known across Hertfordshire for its popular annual Pumpkin Show, but organisers hope the Sunrise Sessions will become another fixture on the village calendar.

The next event takes place on Thursday 25 June from 6.30am to 8am at Pirton Sports & Social Club in Walnut Tree Lane. Admission costs £2.50 for adults and 50p for children.

Organisers are encouraging people to "set the alarm and dance the day in"
