By James Denselow 16th Mar 2026
Police are appealing for witnesses, information and dashcam footage following a serious incident on Baldock Lane on Friday evening.
Emergency services were called at around 7.40pm on Friday 13 March after a small blue Peugeot collided with a woman on Baldock Lane, in the Baldock and Letchworth area, before the vehicle drove away from the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries.
A 42-year-old man from Letchworth, who police say is known to the woman, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Nick Kent, who is leading the investigation, said officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened.
He said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help our enquiries. If you saw the collision, or you saw the small blue Peugeot around the time of 7.40pm please get in touch.
"I am also keen to hear from anyone who might have seen the victim as the car drove off.
"If you were in the area and have a dashcam, doorbell camera or CCTV, please do check this and get in contact if you have captured footage that might help. That might be the incident itself or the events leading up to it or the aftermath."
Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] quoting ISR 708 of 13 March.
Information can also be reported online at herts.police.uk/report, via the online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact, or by calling the non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, people can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
