POLICE officers are appealing for information and witnesses after a Cockapoo was attacked by two other dogs in Hitchin.

The incident happened on Sunday, 1 September in Hermitage Road, close to Hermitage Road Bar and Restaurant.

At around 2pm, a Cockapoo was being walked along the road by its owners. A large dog, which was not on a lead then began to attack it. A similarly large dog also attacked the Cockapoo after jumping out a nearby truck.

Both dogs are believed to belong to the same owner – a man who was with the dogs at the scene.

The owner of the dogs and one of the Cockapoo's owners managed to pull the dogs apart.

The dogs were described as possible Pitbulls.

PC William Cox, who is investigating, said: "The owners of the Cockapoo were understandably shaken by what happened. I am appealing for any witnesses who might be able to help.

"The bar was busy with members of the public so I am hopeful that there are witnesses who can help.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving along the road with a dash cam. Please check it and get in touch if you can help.

"You can get in touch by emailing me at [email protected] quoting crime reference 41/74064/24."
