A man was stabbed near Stevenage FC on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was stabbed near to Broadhall Way minutes after the League Two match between Stevenage and Northampton Town.

However, police are refusing to speculate on whether it was football-related violence while enquiries are ongoing.

Herts Police told Nub News: "Police were called at 508pm on Saturday to Burger King in the Roaring Meg Retail Park, Stevenage, to reports that a male had been assaulted.

"He had made his own way to hospital and is being treated for a non-life threating wound (suspected stab wound)."

Officers cordoned off the area before it reopened later.

Nub News understands that the victim is not currently engaging with officers

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting ISR 0566 of 22/10.

In an unrelated incident in the town two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a 21-year-old was stabbed early on Sunday morning
