Over last weekend (21-22 June) local residents who have CCTV footage of the site reported on Hitchin's social media channels that they "see kids every other evening enter our fields to get into this property".

They went on the explain that they "worked in the Mill for eight years when it was in use as an engineer, and I can tell you it's an extremely dangerous place where someone's highly likely to get killed before long. All CCTV footage is being sent to the police as there is an element of criminal damage as well. This weekend alone we have had three incidents of kids trying to enter the site".

Jas Bowman and Sons at Ickleford Mill on Arlesey Road stopped milling at the site in 2016 – ending a heritage dating back to 1857.

Last year decision-makers granted planning permission for 71 new homes on the site – almost seven years after developers made their application.

Hertfordshire Police are monitoring the reports of people entering the site and information of trespassers has been passed onto a caretaker at the site.
