Police remain at the scene of a 'freak accident' which saw two men die after unloading glass panels from a lorry.

A police van, tape and two ambulance back boards can be seen close to a Martello Transport lorry at land adjacent to Hitchin Town FC overflow car park in Herts.

The lorry, with a named numberplate in the windscreen reading 'Antonio', is also still parked at the site several days on.

Construction material including wooden planks can also be seen near by close to a police van and car.

Part of the overflow car park, owned by the club, is believed to be rented with plans to turn it into a padel board court and one local said it was a 'freak accident'.

Mark Burke, from Hitchin Town FC, said: "This is a very sad and tragic accident that resulted in the fatality of two people".

"We would like to wish our condolences to the families".

"Unfortunately this did happen on our land although none of our volunteers were involved".

Martello Transport were contacted for comment.
