Go Hitchin!

We all agree with the sentiment behind the statement Go Hitchin - but did you know that there is a stunning piece of street art underlining the same message.

A bright piece of graffiti has been attracting attention at King George V Playing Fields off Old Hale Way - but we're still no nearer uncovering the talented hand behind it.

The colourful image on a brick hut near to Hitchin Rugby Club is a representation of Sonic the Hedgehog with a rugby ball. But who is the artist behind the iconic art?

Beano writer and renowned Hitchin author Danny Pearson joked: "I swear it wasn't me," adding, "Looks like the hunt is on to find the Hitchin Banksy.

"I love the graffiti at King George Playing Fields. It really does catch the eye and brightens up the once unpleasant looking block.

"The artist has done an amazing job and I love how they have recruited Sonic the Hedgehog into the Hitchin Hedgehog's rugby team.

"More of the same for other boring brick walls of Hitchin please!"
