Shuttleworth unveils 2027 air show season with new finale and US Air Force celebration
By James Denselow 21st Aug 2026
Shuttleworth has unveiled its 2027 air show programme, with seven events planned including a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the US Air Force and a brand-new season finale.
The Old Warden attraction has announced its programme following a successful 2026 season, which has included a sell-out Summer Air Show and record attendance at its Festival of Flight.
Tickets are already on sale for the 2027 season, which will begin with the Season Premiere Air Show on Sunday 9 May.
The Military Air Show will follow on Saturday 29 May, bringing together military aircraft, vehicles and displays celebrating those who have served their countries.
Shuttleworth's flagship Festival of Flight will then return for two days on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June.
The event will feature flying displays from Shuttleworth's internationally renowned collection of historic aircraft alongside visiting aircraft from the UK and overseas.
A programme of ground attractions, interactive experiences and family activities is also planned, while visitors will once again have the option of camping on site.
The 2026 Festival of Flight received high praise, with Vintage Aviation News describing it as "probably the best airshow anywhere in the world this year".
One of the biggest events of the 2027 programme will be the Summer Air Show, which will have an American theme to mark the 80th anniversary of the United States Air Force.
Visitors can expect classic American aircraft in the skies, with further flying announcements promised in the coming months.
On the ground there will be American-inspired food, a free fun fair and STEM activities in the Discovery Zone.
Wings & Wheels Air Show will return for its second year on Saturday 14 August, combining displays celebrating both aviation and motoring.
The popular Flying Proms Air Show follows on Saturday 28 August, when the National Symphony Orchestra will perform live alongside choreographed aerobatic displays.
Shuttleworth will then bring its programme to a close with a completely new event on Saturday 25 September.
The Season Finale Air Show will feature aircraft from Shuttleworth's own collection as well as visiting displays, before an evening fireworks and pyrotechnics finale.
Marc Boult, Head of Visitor Operations at Shuttleworth, said: "The 2026 air show season exceeded all our expectations, and we're already looking ahead to an exciting 2027.
"Preparations are well underway, with Summer Air Show set to be a particular highlight. Following a sell-out event in 2026, the show will return with another major theme, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the US Air Force.
"We're also thrilled to launch a brand-new event, Season Finale Air Show, in September 2027, bringing the season to a spectacular close."
Shuttleworth, at Old Warden near Biggleswade, is within easy reach of Hitchin and is home to some of the world's oldest airworthy historic aircraft.
Tickets for the 2027 air show season are now on sale through the Shuttleworth website.
