Families and firework-fans in Hitchin are being invited to mark a dazzling date in their calendars — the school's long-awaited fireworks night is back. On Saturday 8 November 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, the grounds of Strathmore School (Old Hale Way, Hitchin, SG5 1XR) will be lit up with bonfire glow and aerial displays.

What's in store

The evening will kick off with the gates opening at 5 pm. Fireworks are scheduled for around 6:30pm, followed by an official finish at 7:30pm.

Beyond the fireworks:

  • A bonfire for all to enjoy.
  • Hot food served by the catering team of North Hertfordshire College — burgers, hot dogs and wedges, plus gluten-free and vegan options, priced between £2.50 and £5.
  • Adults' and children's bars, children's disco for younger guests.

Important things to know

  • Tickets cost £9 for adults and £7.50 for children under 14; children aged 2 and under enter free.
  • For safety reasons: no sparklers, no personal fireworks, and no dogs allowed on the site. All under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Parking on site is extremely limited. Visitors are encouraged to walk if possible, and those parking on surrounding streets are asked to be considerate of neighbours.
  • Cash payments are preferred for food and drink at the event to speed things up. Some card payments available.

Why this matters

The event is organised by the Friends of Strathmore School Association (FOSSA), whose fundraising efforts support the school's projects and extra-curricular activities. With the community coming together, the fireworks night is both a celebratory and supportive occasion, blending fun for all ages with a local purpose.

A night to remember

With colourful pyrotechnics lighting up the Hitchin sky, hot food and community spirit in full swing, this year's fireworks night promises to be a memorable evening. Whether you're bringing the family for the disco and feast, or simply want to admire the display with friends, it's a great opportunity to join in the festivities and support your local school.

Mark the date: Saturday 8 November 2025, 5:00–7:30 pm, Strathmore School, Old Hale Way, Hitchin, SG5 1XR.

Make sure you've booked your tickets and come ready for a sparkle-filled evening!
