They might play in League Two but Stevenage FC are set to join the 'Premier League' of eSports.

Boro, who play in the fourth tier of the professional game in this country, are set to launch their own eSports platform - becoming the first club to launch a live base of its kind in England.

Powered by US based platform provider Rival, their eSports Arena will enable the Lamex-based outfit to establish a new eSports gaming community for Stevenage fans all over the world.

Using Rival's technology, Boro's eSports Arena will be a destination for the club's fans to communicate, compete and earn rewards points that can be used to redeem exclusive team merchandise and partner prizes.

The US based Rival already hosts eSports communities for major sports teams such as the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons

The new platform will initially feature EA Sports FIFA 21, engaging both Xbox and PlayStation users through the cloud, with the ability to add titles such as NBA 2K and Madden in the future.

The launch comes hot on the heels of the homely but progressive club transforming itself from a small team in real life, into the biggest team in the country online, following its recent partnership with shirt sponsor Burger King.

During the past year the fast food chain offered free food to gamers all around the world when they scored goals with Stevenage FC, resulting in the club becoming the most played team in the world on FIFA 20.

Stevenage are planning to launch their eSports Arena Adult Launch Tournament on Saturday, November 28, , the same day as they take on League One high-fliers Hull City in the FA Cup second round.

Tournament prizes include $1,000 in total cash for the adult tournament, with $500 to the Xbox tournament winner and $500 to the PlayStation tournament winner.

Stevenage's acclaimed CEO Alex Tunbridge said: "We are delighted to be working with Rival to launch Stevenage FC's Esports Arena, which will bring together FIFA gamers all over the world to compete in one environment.

"The platform is the next step in continuing to make Stevenage FC one of the biggest clubs in the eSports world.''
