Officers from the Hitchin Safer Neighbourhood Team, supported by the Special Constabulary, recovered a stolen vehicle last week.

On Wednesday, January 25, officers visited Mattocke Road after receiving reports from residents about a suspicious Mazda which appeared abandoned.

Officers found that the vehicle had been stolen during a burglary in Kimpton. It was subsequently seized for further enquiries.

Special Constable Daniel O'Donnell, who attended the incident, said: "We were pleased to be able to assist our regular colleagues and hopefully residents feel reassured by our response."

"It's really important to report any suspicions you have so thank you to those who alerted us to this vehicle."

Specials are volunteer officers. Highly trained, with full policing powers including the power to arrest, they play an essential role in preventing, reducing and tackling crime.
